Police seek help with Wabaseemoong murder investigation

The murder was first reported to police on October 27.

Police are seeking the public’s help with the ongoing homicide investigation of 42-year-old Raymond Land in Wabaseemoong Independent Nation.

Officers with the OPP and Treaty Three Police Service are requesting that anyone who was present at the scene of Cameron’s Loop on Thursday, October 27 and may have taken photographs or videos to contact them at [email protected] immediately.

On October 27, members of the Treaty Three Police Service and Northwest EMS responded to a Wabaseemoong First Nation residence for a report of an individual facing life-threatening injuries.

The victim, Raymond Land, passed away while at the hospital. A post-mortem examination later took place in Toronto to determine the cause of death.

Then on November 2, the OPP charged a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old in relation to the death.

The two cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but are facing charges of second-degree murder, break and enter and commit an indictable offence, and robbery. The 17-year-old is also facing failure to comply with an undertaking.
