The season for the Red Lake Miners came to an end on Tuesday night (May 24, 2022), after losing their final round-robin game at the 2022 Centennial Cup in Estevan, SK.
It was a tough tournament for the Miners as they went 0-4, and were outscored 32-9, in Group A. Leading the way for the Miners was forward Brady Harroun with five points in four games (3G-2A).
The Miners opened the tournament back on May 19, 2022, with a 9-2 loss to the Pickering Panthers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Then two days later had a date with the number one Junior A team in Canada, the Brooks Bandits (Alberta Junior Hockey League), and suffered an 11-4 defeat.
On Monday (May 23, 2022), Red Lake faced off against the host Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), which finished as a 6-2 loss. The Miners finished off the tournament losing 6-1 to the College Francais de Longueuil.
Red Lake advanced to the 2022 Centennial Cup after defeating the Kam River Fighting Walleye in six games to win the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) title.
In late March, Hockey Canada, the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), and the SIJHL announced a revised format for the Centennial Cup national championship tournament and the qualification requirements for entry into the tournament.
Red Lake was joined by the playoff champions of the other eight CJHL member leagues, plus the host Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
