Rocky Earl Strong, a resident of Grassy Narrows, Ontario. He suddenly passed away on September 1, 2023.
He was born on January 7, 1983 in Kenora, Ontario.
He was predeceased by his father Melvin Keewatin, uncles Marvin Keewatin, Wayne, Norbert, Alvin and Pahpasay, uncle Donald Kejick and aunty Helen Pahpasay. Grandparents Edna and Art Pahpasay, Joseph and Margaret Strong, great grandparents Isaac and Margaret Land, grandparents Andrew (Sam) Fobister, Sharon and Steve Fobister, cousins Rebecca, Cynthia, and his friend Wesley Pahpasay.
Rocky is survived by his mother Doreen Strong, stepdad Chris Swain, brother Ricky (Stella) Strong and his sister Chelsea (John) Swain, Charlton (Lucille), Russell (Carol), Evelyn Pahpasay (grams), aunts Shirley Pahpasay, Ruth (Fraser) Pahpasay, uncles David Keon Fobister and Sidney Fontaine. As well as J.B. Fobister (Becky), Sylvia, Christine, Annette (Robert W.) Harvey, Darren, Marty, Jennifer (Ben M.), Lionel, Rebecca, Michelle (Les), Chip (Mike), Jessica, Tyson, Jamie, Emily, Sherry, his cousins, Keon Jr. (Jamie), Alanda, Evander, Joshua (Ashley), Mario, Jeremiah, Lee Marvin, Alvin (Samantha), Heather, Becky, Joanne and Jonathan Keewatin, nieces and nephews Meeka, Jacob, Carlos, Deacon, Layton, Clive, Drake, Ric, Hunter, Kyle, Jasmine, Herb, Adam, Addie, Echo, Regulus, Tyler, Lennox, Mia, Sierra and Brad, as well as many other family members too numerous to mention.
He enjoyed fishing, skating, ski-doo riding, quadding, fire-fighting and enjoyed working at the school. He enjoyed hunting with Keon Fobister, he liked to water the rink at the Forum with Kenny M. He enjoyed watching hockey, his favorite team was the Detroit Red Wings and for Baseball was “New York Rangers”.
As a toddler, Rocky was close to his great Kokoom who he nicknamed ‘Kokoomat’ which stuck and everyone knew her as that, she even nicknamed him ‘Kokoomat’ in response. He remained close to her until her passing.
Rocky had a kind, quiet, generous nature about him. He enjoyed laughing and just being silly with all his friends and cousins. His humour was warming and many times sarcastic (lol) and he was always the comedian of the group with his perfect imitations of characters in movies.
Rocky will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. We miss and love you very much Rocky!
Pallbearers will be Bryce land, Lee Assin, Joshua Pahpasay, Alvin Pahpasay, Charlton Pahpasay and Russell Swain.
A wake service for Rocky will begin on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Trappers Building, Grassy Narrows, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Trappers Building led by Elders Mary Jane Scott and Daniel Neapetung with interment to follow in Grassy Narrows First Nation, Grassy Narrows, Ontario.
