The latest fundraising total for the Kenora Rotary Peace Park is $95,000.00 of their $100,000.00 goal.
The most recent donation came from the partners at Hook, Seller, Lundin Law offices. A cheque for $1500.00 was presented over the weekend.
Partners at the law firm say they applaud all the individuals and businesses that have come together to support this community driven initiative and that they are pleased to support this project as an opportunity to strengthen the reconciliation efforts between Kenora and local First Nations, as well as to acknowledge Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2-Spirit People through the memorial monument.
The Peace Park fundraising project also received a $500.00 donation from Lake of the Woods Christian Ministerial Association. Yvonne Bearbull presented a cheque to Rotarian Carolyn Hudson.
The Kenora Rotary Peace Park park will be located on the green space between the former Blue Heron location and the former laundromat site on First Avenue South and is expected to open in October.
