Kenora Rotarians have announced the unfortunate postponement of one of their annual holiday events.

The Kenora Rotary Club says they have cancelled their Rotary New Year’s Eve Family event this year, due to COVID-19 concerns.

“It was a really tough decision,” said Rotary Club President Kelly Williams. “We contacted the Rec Centre and there was the possibility with reduced numbers, but we felt that we didn’t want to put anyone at risk, even if we did it as safe as possible.”

However, Williams says the event will return once it’s safe to do so, and they’re aiming for later in the winter or in early spring, and could take place outdoors.

Rotary’s annual, free New Year’s Eve event typically takes place at the Kenora Recreation Centre, and includes free family skating, swimming, sleigh rides and hay rides.
