Trustees and senior staff are very pleased with how COVID-19 cases were contained at Kenora-area schools.
"It really is an indicator that the protocols that are in place, and all of the safety protocols that we've talked about since the return to school, are working to prevent the spread," said director of education Sherri-Lynne Pharand, as she offered her comments to trustees, during last week's virtual board meeting.
Two cases at Valleyview School were contained, as no other cases were found within the school. Pharand added there was a bit of a silver lining.
"The health unit has also indicated to us that in many cases students under the age of 10 really aren't good transmitters of the virus," she noted.
Exposure to the coronavirus at Valleyview was reported Oct. 1, with a second student testing positive at the same school but in a different cohort.
Positive test results were also reported at St. Thomas Aquinas and Ecole Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys.
