The St. Thomas Aquinas senior boys and girls volleyball teams traveled to Portage la Prairie this weekend to participate in the PCI Challenge Volleyball tournament.

The senior boys had another strong showing, even though they lost  losing in the finals against a strong Rosenort team. The boys lost 18-16 in the 3rd set to finish 2nd in the 16-team tournament. This was only the 3rd loss of the year for the senior boys, who now set their sights on an OFSAA medal on Manitoulin Island.

The senior girls finished 5th in their tournament, but narrowly missed playing in the tournament final
game by splitting their last match of the tournament. A series of tie-breaking scenarios would have had the girls finish 1st in their pool had they defeated the Kilarney team in the last match of the pool play.

Unfortunately, the girls could only manage a split, and they settled for a very positive 5th place finish
in their first tournament of the year. The girls next tournament will be in Dryden on December 9th and 10th.
