Health unit staff reported five new cases of COVID-19 in the Kenora area yesterday, including one linked to a local school, which has been identified as St. Thomas Aquinas.
the director of education for the KCDSB -- Derek Haime -- offered an update for families.

"We're told by the health unit that -- if you're not contacted -- it is safe for you to go to school, but we encourage people to continue to complete the screener, and if the screener tells you otherwise, then you need to follow what the screener tells you to do," he said.

No new cases have been reported to the board, since the case at St. Thomas Aquinas was announced late Sunday.

To date, there have been 109 confirmed and two probable cases of COVID-19 in the health unit catchment area with 85 of the 111 cases listed as resolved.
