A Pikangikum man remains in custody following an early morning assault at an Arthur Street hotel.
Police say the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. when a security guard was escorting an unwanted person off the property when the male became aggressive and attacked the guard, during which he uttered threats towards the victim.
Officers arrived after the victim had been taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries, and located the accused.
During the arrest the male attacked one of the arresting officers, fortunately, the officer did not suffer serious injuries as a result.
The 21-year-old has been charged with:
• Assault
• Assault a Peace Officer
• Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
He appeared in court Thursday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
