Once again, an early morning shower on Tuesday, June 2 caused some members of the Beauty Bay Senior Men's League to cancel out their tee times. However, 60 members did show up and enjoyed a great day of golf with some excellent results on the finely groomed fairways and greens.

Bruce Braun's overall low score of 39 on the front nine took the first flight. Gerry Ortlieb was close behind with 41 to capture second flight honours. A score of 48 won the third and fourth flights for Hector Courchaine and John Hill respectively while Dave Moorey took flight five with a 47 and Wolf Sandloehken took the final flight with his score of 49.

Birdies were the order of the day in the Texas Scramble on the back nine. Two teams recorded amazing four under par rounds of 31. The team of Hector Courchaine, Syd Enns, Terry Grafham and Rick Strain won out in a count back over the team of Doug Gan, Jim Mowrey, Jim Shaw, Rich Marcine and Ron Chekosky.

Individual prizes were also awarded to several members. Ron Chekosky was closest to the pin on hole #9 with his tee shot to just 8' from the hole. Long putts were holed on #1 by Phil Girard (7'6") and Bruce Braun on hole #8 (32'11"). Bill Devins had the long drive in the over 75 age category on hole #5 and Jim Mowrey was the winner in the under age 75 category on hole #3. Draw prize winners this week were Joe Boucher and Marvin Koski .

By the time this is being read by the public, approximately 40 members of the Beauty Bay group will have paid a visit to the Kenora Golf Club for the first half of the yearly friendly competition with the Kenora Seniors. Kenora will pay a return visit to Beauty Bay on June 23.

Many of the group have mentioned how impressed they are with the great condition of the course. Thanks go out to Cubby, Dan and all their crew who work tirelessly to keep the fairways and greens in excellent condition despite the challenging weather conditions they have had to deal with.
