As the wintry weather continues, shelter patrons are helping volunteers with the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
"On a day like today, or the coldest night of the year, it's definitely something that I'm very grateful for and I'm reminded of that," said a shelter visitor yesterday.
The overnight wind chill has dropped below -40 over the weekend.
Proceeds from the virtual event will help the Kenora Fellowship Centre and Jubilee Church. As of yesterday, they'd raised $9,000 towards their goal of $20,000.
"Right now, they're providing me with a place to live, until I get on my feet, and it's definitely not the most convenient for them, but they're still helping me," she said.
The event is set for February 20.
