A spectacular fire near Beaver Brae caused lots of flames and toxic smoke, but no damage to the school itself.

The blaze broke out around 10:30 last night.

Fire chief Dave Pratt says several 20 gallon pails of tar and glue caught fire.

Embers from that fire caused garbage in a nearby dumpster to ignite.

Fire crews were able to put out the flames, but the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

A contractor is currently roofing part of the high school.
