Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora says they have arrested a 41-year-old from Big River First Nation Territory, Saskatchewan, following an incident on Highway 17A that started at the Manitoba – United States border.

The incident began Monday shortly after 8 p.m. when the OPP was dispatched to be on the lookout for a vehicle which had run the border between Manitoba and the United States of America.

Officers later located the vehicle on Highway 17A, but the driver refused to stop for police.

This required the deployment of a spike belt which successfully stopped the vehicle and the occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody near the intersection of Highway 17A and Highway 71.
