Kindergarten students get language lessons at the new First Nation school on Valley Drive.

Kenora's new First Nations school is hitting its stride. With their renovations completed, Principal Ryan White says they're settling in nicely.

"I know sometimes we use the word immersion, but it's more immersion programming," he said yesterday. "If we were to go full-bore immersion, it would be kind of difficult to learn."

The new school, currently called the Kiizhik Education Centre, will offer junior kindergarten, senior kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 this fall.

The classes are located in the old Our Lady of the Valley School on Valley Drive. There are also plans to for adults looking to continue their education.

Principal Ryan White offers a tour of the bright hallways and classrooms, after renovations over the summer.
