David Blake, who co-owns the Greek Monster Cafe, which operates the high school cafeteria's in Kenora, and the former Entertainment Director for Harbourfest has encountered a number of health issues over the last couple of years.

Dave suffered a heart attack on January 15, 2021 and following that, was experiencing unusual back pain, which was diagnosed as stage 3 bone marrow cancer.

The treatment journey has taken Dave from Kenora to Thunder Bay, then Ottawa for a stem cell transplant and 16 rounds of chemotherapy. His mother Harriett Blake has been by his side through the last 18 months.  Now, Dave prepares to start oral chemotherapy treatment at home in Kenora.

Dave was off work due to COVID and has since exhausted his health insurance plan.  His longtime friend and current Harbourfest Entertainment Director Sandra Ivanowich has started a GoFundMe page to assist with Dave's living and medical costs.

In the first 48 hours, the fund raised over $7,000.00 of the $50,000.00 goal.
