Synergy North says it will be able to introduce an ultra-low electricity rate starting May 1st.
The provincial government announced certain electrical utilities would be able to indroduce it starting at the beginning of next month.
Synergy North says it wasn’t included in the announcement because they still have a few things to work out with the Ontario Energy Board.
More details of the ultra-low rate will be released later this month, including how to apply for it.
A spokesperson for Synergy North says the new rate is for anyone who uses a lot of electricity overnight, such as charging an electric vehicle.
The ultra-low price will be 2.4 cents per kilowatt hour, 67 per cent lower than the current off-peak rate.
