High school sports are officially back in Northwestern Ontario, as the high school golf season kicked off yesterday (September 14, 2021), at the Eagles Landing Golf Course in Dryden.

It was a great day on the links for the Saint Thomas Aquinas High School as their boy's team took home the tournament win with a combined score of 347.

It was a dog fight for second as DHS edged out Fort Frances by three strokes with a combined score of 354.

Carson Maffey and Jaxon Savage of TA tied for third on the day with a score of 85. The duo was only two strokes off the leader Ashton Barnes who finished with an 85.

Notable individual scores put in by TA: Emerson Evans (86), Piercen Foucher (91), Lucas Pavey (104), Jack Bush (120)

In total eleven boys teams and three girls teams participated in the tournament from eight different schools from across the region.

The Saints, Beaver Brae, and DHS golf teams continue their season next week at the Kenora Golf and Country Club.
