Mark your calenders, this year's Taste of Kenora is set for May 23. Tickets are on sale now for the annual fundraising dinner for the Alzheimer Society. Funds raised from the event will be used to provide essential services to people with dementia and their families in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts. Rossana Tomashowski knows all to well what it's like to have a family member suffer from dementia.
"My mother-in-law had a stroke and through that she developed dementia, and we went through that with her for a few years. It's a very sad disease, there is no cure for it, and you live for the moment," she said.
Tomashowski explains who this year's guest speaker is.
"Guest speaker is Dr. Elaine Wiersma she's from the Department of Health Sciences and does research of aging and health at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay," she said.
Entertainment for the event will be provided by the Kenora Strings. Tickets are available from Johnson's Pharmacy, Lakeside Inn and Conference Centre, the Alzheimer Society Office, as well as online at the Alzheimer Society's web page.
