Trylight Presents Canterbury Tales

By Staff Feb 2, 2023 | 11:45 AM

For the first time in three years, Trylight Theatre is offering a performance from its Youth Theatre.

Canterbury Tales opens tonight in the basement of First Baptist Church on Second Street South.

Gord Day-Janz is the director and says this is a modern-day take on the classic.

“It’s a lovely adaptation,” enthuses Day-Janz.

“The original Canterbury Tales has 24 tales.  We’re only telling five and a half.  It’s been rewritten with young people in mind.   The language is modern.  The stories have been somewhat updated.”

Day-Janz adds the play has something for everyone.

“Between film jokes and wordplay and slapstick, there’s sort of something there for everyone and with intermission, it only runs about an hour and a half.”

The show runs tomorrow night as well, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday.
