Verna Catherine Redsky
July 22,1950 - June 2, 2023

Verna Redsky, a resident of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation passed away on Friday June 2, 2023 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents Annie (mom) and Charlie (dad) Green, Albert (stepdad), her siblings: Pearl, Annie, Diane, Rhea, Jonathan, Herman, Bobby, Charlie, Fred, Jimmie and her granddaughter Prairie Rose Redsky-Mandamin, as well as many relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

She is survived by her husband Ron Redsky, her children Veronica (Brennan), Beverley, Aaron ,Jonathan (Tracey), as well as her grandchildren Couradge, Realle, Ryver, Derian, Taylor, Madison, Aries, Migisii, Reanna, Jonena, Orion, Galexi and her great-grandchild: Dean, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Verna was hard working in all that she did, compassionate and always there to lend a hand or shoulder.  She was a good listener, very loving and caring.  She enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, skinning, cutting wood, loved going to church and always sang gospel songs.  She was the co-Pastor at the Shoal Lake Community Church, she lived a strong prayer life, praying day and night.

We would like to extend a thank you to the Cancer Care Unit Nurses, Community Care Nurse Maureen, Shoal Lake #40 Crisis Team and the 3rd floor palliative care team at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, thank you to Cory at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre and all the support from Shoal Lake #40 Chief and Council.

Pallbearers will be Derian, Jonathan, Ryver, Couradge, Aaron and Nathan.

A Wake Service will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Shoal Lake 40 School Gymnasium. Funeral Service will be led by Marlin Hunt on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00am at the Shoal Lake 40 School Gymnasium with burial to follow.
