It is with great sadness the family of Bill Friday announce his passing at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on February 1, 2023.

Born in Thunder Bay April 15, 1952 to Jack and Shirley Friday, he attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and Lakehead University Engineering program. In high school he began a part time job at Canada Safeway which eventually evolved into a career of over forty years. He retired as Assistant Manager of the Kenora store where he made many friends with both staff and customers.

Bill had a keen interest in the outdoors from an early age. In particular, he loved fishing and it was an easy choice for him to move to Kenora where he could indulge his passion on Lake of the Woods trolling in his boat. His particular specialty was muskie fishing and he welcomed the challenge of catching these elusive fish. He proved to be quite skilled and was known affectionately as Muskie Bill.

Bill was widely read and enjoyed following politics and history. He collected memorabilia related to WWll especially anything connected with our father's Air Force experiences. Bill enjoyed a good debate and didn't hold back on sharing his views. However tough on the exterior, he had a generous nature and was always a big softy when it came to any animals. His Bernese Mountain dogs were his babies and he greatly enjoyed their company. Levon will certainly be missing his Dad.

Bill was predeceased by his parents (Jack and Shirley Friday), grandparents, various aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his siblings: Susan Bailey (Chris), Barb Bullough, John Friday (Cindy) and Patrick (Beverley Babcock). Also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: John Bailey (Teghan LeBlond), Friday Bailey (Nathan Meakes), Kathleen Bailey (Scott Cowell), Graham Friday (Alison) and Cameron Friday.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com for the Friday family.
