We could see as much snow this week as we did all of the month of March.
Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch.
Severe Weather Specialist Geoff Coulson says much of northwestern Ontario will be affected by the Colorado low.
“Right now it looks like Thunder Bay itself and areas closer Lake Superior could see an extended period of ice pellets mixing in with the snow,” predicts Coulson.
“So amounts towards Thunder Bay could be more on the lower side of that range, whereas Kenora will see the event as totally a snow event.”
Right now, Coulson says we could see anywhere from 15 to 25 centimeters of snow starting tomorrow afternoon and ending Thursday morning.
“Timing is a little different depending on the models that we look at. So the consensus is this point seems to be late afternoon or early evening on Tuesday. And then very much a duration event, as we’re expecting that snow to continue on Wednesday and even first thing on Thursday as well.”
Coulson expects the Winter Storm Watch will be upgraded in the hours ahead when the storm track is more certain.
