Community agencies in the Kenora and Rainy River areas are getting provincial help fixing up facilities.

Over $580 thousand is being issued through the Partner Facility Renewal Program.

Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says it is a necessary investment.

“Our government is investing in the critical children’s and social services organizations across Kenora–Rainy River that local families count on for high-quality programs and services,” says Rickford. “The Partner Facility Renewal Program provides local agencies with funding for building repairs and upgrades so they can continue focusing on the essential social services that support our community’s most vulnerable.”

Community Living Fort Frances and District will use $333,700 on 12 projects at five locations in Fort Frances.

Giishkaandago’Ikwe Health Services (formally Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Services) is getting $65,000 to develop an outdoor recreational space for clients and increase parking space at its Mino Ayaa Ta Win Healing Centre.

Kenora Association for Community Living is using $42,100 on four projects at four locations in the Kenora area.

Kenora-Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services will get $140,700.

“It’s a great announcement for all of us. When the day is done, the important work, as I’d identified that folks do through the assisted living programs and services, have a professional, safe environment for their clients. And we’re upgrading the facilities, assets, and homes that they live in,” says Rickford.
