triathlon2Andrew Pickerl leads the pack out of the water at Garrow Beach. It's great weather for a run, bike or swim.

"Oh, we couldn't have had a better day for the triathlon," said race coordinator Crystal Stokes.

For the 13th edition of the triathlon, 177 registered in various races.

"The weather's beautiful. It stayed cool overnight. So, our athletes are allowed to wear their wetsuits, which always makes them  happy, and there's not a breeze really to be had. Last year, we had a bit of wind," Stokes added.

Dan Morwood won this year's Olympic triathlon in a time of 2:07:24, while Heather McDonnell was first among the women with a time of 2:38:27 for the 1,500m swim, 40km bike and 10k run.
