Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is in full swing.

The long list of events and activities wrap up Saturday night with an SIJHL game between the English River Miners and Fort Frances Lakers.

Miners head coach Derek Sweet-Coulter touched on his team's mindset heading into the game.

“I know the team is very excited and the community is really rallying behind us,” Sweet-Coulter says. “You can feel the energy building day-by-day here and I think everyone is just excited to get going.”

The Miners will be looking sharp in the game, wearing Don Cherry style jerseys.

Gametime at the Kenora Rec Centre is at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to ensure that they don’t miss out on any of the exciting hockey action. All of the Rec Centre parking lots at the rear of the facility have been cleared and access through the east gate will also be operational.
