Thistle alumni Sean Gula's enjoying big minutes on the blueline for the Red Lake Miners this year. The rookie from Red Lake even added an assist Wednesday night, as the second place Miners upended the Ice Dogs in Dryden.

"It's not normal for an 18-year-old to play big minutes like that. Priviliged," he said, after the game.

Gula had 35 points and 42 penalty minutes in 48 games last year, his second with the Kenora AAA Midget Thistles.

This year, he has 21 points and 24 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Miners.

He's looking forward to a first-round bye in the post-season, as they rest up and heal up for the second round of the SIJHL playoffs.
