Biathlon Manitoba Provincial races were held Feb. 2 and 3 at Falcon Lake with Kenora athletes in attendance. The race format on Saturday was a sprint event with each athlete shootingEllaKyleElla Kyle of Kenora takes aim. (Submitted) twice during the race.  

Sunday’s race was a mass start with athletes shooting four times during the race. The Kenora athletes have been making good use of their shooting practice sessions at the Lake of the Woods Gun Club.

Kenora results:

Saturday

  • Boys age 11-14 Developmental category: Hudson Dent 1st place; Liam Kyle 3rd place.
  • Girls age 11-14 Developmental category: Ella Kyle 1st place;
  • Women Developmental Category: Dominique Kyle 2nd place;
  • Masters Women: Jennifer Findlay 1st place;
  • Masters Men: Tim Wehner 1st place.

Sunday

  • Boys age 11-14 Developmental Category: Hudson Dent 1st place;
  • Masters Women:  Jennifer Findlay 1st place;
  • Masters Men:  Tim Wehner 1st place.

The next biathlon race will be held Sunday, Feb. 24 at Falcon Lake with a biathlon open house taking place the day before to introduce biathlon to those interested in giving it a try.
