The Lake of the Woods Speedway is officially up and running despite the heavy rain over the long weekend.

The season opener event was originally scheduled for Sunday but the day only saw a few races before it was rained out and re-scheduled to Monday afternoon.

The races featured three classes, where #2T Derek Pollock of Winnipeg, MB took the top spot for Pure Stock, #15 Mike Demchuk of Dufresne, MB placed first in 4 Cylinder and #44 Austin Hunter also of Winnipeg came out on top in the Wissota Midwest Modifieds class.

The Speedway took roughly two years to construct and is a low banked, 3/8 mile Clay/Dirt Oval that host the three racing classes in the summer and Sled Races in the winter.

The next event for the Speedway will run Sunday, September 9.
