Kenora Swimming Shark, Gabe Mastromatteo has set a new record at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

During his morning heat yesterday in men's 50 metre breast stroke, he completed the race in 28.76 seconds. He went on to the A-final last night and stood atop the podium with a gold medal.

The 15-year-old will compete today in Men's 200 metre breaststroke.

Mastromatteo had a standout performance at the 2016 Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary last summer, setting a national record for his age in the 100-metre breaststroke. He also won golds in the 50 and 200-metre breaststroke, and the 200 and 400-metre individual medley.
