The pool at the Kenora Recreational Centre now has some grit to its floor. Lifeguard, Megan Eisler says that even though the floor has more texture to it, safety is still a must on the deck.

"It's a different texture now, but we do encourage shoes", she says.

Not only has the new surface gave the pool a more esthetic feel, it makes it easier for maintenance.

"I like the colours that were chosen. It shows the borders around the pool now, and it's not to hard to upkeep", she adds.

The new surface was finally finished over the summer. It was the third time the city had tried to get it resurfaced. Last year, the contractor simply never showed up.
