The Saints girls hockey team won the PCI Christmas Classic in Portage La Prairie this past weekend.
They went undefeated with wins of 4-1 over the Fort Frances Muskies, 7-2 over the Dakota Lancers on Friday and a 4-3 shootout win Saturday morning against the Sanford Sabres.
Faith Reid stopped two of three Sabres shooters, and Saints scored on two of three -- Mariah White and Chloe Skead -- to advance to the finals, after placing first in their pool. The Saints faced the Dryden Eagles in the final, and T.A. emerged the champions with a 2-0 win.
Chloe Skead scored early in the first from Brynn Rawn. Thomas Aquinas secured the win with Skead's second of the game with about five minutes left, after assists from Mariah White and Abbie Favreau.
Sarah From recorded the shutout for the Saints. The two teams face off again in Dryden Tuesday, and then in Kenora on Dec. 12 in regular NorWOSSA play.
