Local businesses and entrepreneurs were recognized at the annual Kenora District Chamber of Commerce last night.

None more so than Lorna Smith, owner of the Medicine Shoppe. Smith won the Innovative Small Business Award, and Customer Service Excellence Staff Up to 10.

"Amazed and pleased with the first award, and it's really the clients I serve that made that possible. the second one was totally unexpected. There are so many deserving small businesses in that category I wasn't even really paying attenion and was flabergasted," she said.

The most coveted prize of the night is always the Manger of the year award. Kenora's 2019 Managers of the year are Joe Fregeau and Marty Nelson of MNP.

The Chamber also held its Annual General Meeting prior to the banquet where a new president was announced. Carol Leduc, of Carol Leduc Consulting & Business Services, will lead the Board of Directors in 2019.
