A Kenora teen is facing seven charges, including assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. The charges are in connection with an assault on a city bus early Saturday afternoon.
Officers were initially advised a female was assaulted in a parking lot on Ottawa Street in Keewatin. While investigating the first report of an assault, police received a second call of an assault that occurred on the city transit bus. Both victims did not sustain any injuries in the altercations.
The descriptors of the suspect were provided to officers and police arrested the male youth without incident.
As a result of the investigation, the 17-year-old male from Kenora is charged with the following offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act:
- Fail to Comply with Sentence x 2
- Assault Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Attempt - Theft Under $5,000 x 2
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats-Cause Bodily Harm
- Resist Arrest Peace Officer
The youth appeared in the Kenora Court of Justice bail court on August 12, 2018.
