Local police found the body of a female on Wednesday, as they were searching for the whereabouts of a missing 16-year-old.
On June 13, the Treaty Three Police Service requested the assistance of the OPP regarding a missing 16-year-old female from Big Grassy River First Nation, near Nestor Falls.
Members of the North West Region Emergency Response Team and a Canine Unit, as well as North West Region Crime Unit members attended the community later in that day. At 7:45 p.m., the body of a female was located behind the outdoor skating rink on Beach Road. The body has yet to be identified.
As a result, the T3PS, OPP and Forensic Identification Services are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Police say that further information will be released as it becomes available.
Police wish to remind all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
Police were presumably searching for teenager Autumn Andy, who was last seen in the Big Grassy River First Nation area on Monday night. She was reported missing on Tuesday.
Police in Kenora are also searching for a missing teen. 15-year-old James Fleury-Wolke was last seen on Sunday, near Valley Drive.
