The City of Kenora is advising drivers that the Coker Road Bailey Bridge will be closed to all traffic tomorrow and Friday. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes, to avoid delays.
The closure is required to perform geo-technical investigations for the future replacement of the bridge. The replacement of the bridge has long-been in the works, and the city is hoping to use a model wood design for the new bridge.
The City of Kenora thanks the public for their cooperation and patience during this necessary closure.
In April, councillors approved a motion to allocate $1.1 million through the province's formula-based gas tax funding for the repairs to the Bay Street Overpass and Darlington Bay Bridge in the old Town of Keewatin, along with the Norlen Bridge in the former Township of Jaffray Mellick.
This year's funding through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund is roughly $850,000.
