Kenora Mayor Dave Canfield has been elected to the Northern Caucus’ board of directors for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. The announcement was made in Ottawa at AMO’s municipal leader conference, which wrapped up on Wednesday.
As a board member, Canfield will help to set policies for AMO, and serve as a key municipal leader in the province.
“AMO benefits from membership from across the province, and a board that reflects the diversity of Ontario’s municipal governments. To that end, I am pleased to have Dave on the board team,” said AMO president, Jamie McGarvey.
Canfield’s term will be from 2018 to 2020. He has been involved in local government and municipal politics since the early 1990’s, and has previously served as an executive for AMO, as well as the president of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.
Canfield did not file nomination papers for the upcoming municipal election, and is not seeking re-election.
