Mayor Dave Canfield says he's hoping to get some relief for Kenora ratepayers.
"We still have a whole pile of bridges we didn't build we have to fix -- and a whole lot of highways we didn't build -- but were downloaded to us in '97. That'll be another discussion we have to have with the government," he said.
"There were some mistakes made there, and hopefully this government will change some of them," the mayor continued.
Another important issue for the mayor is the issue of funding for land ambulance services. He says the services should be paid for through income tax and the province, rather than property taxes and the district services board.
City councillors are lobbying provincial cabinet ministers this week in Ottawa.
