Lac Seul member Adam Capay, 26, is back in custody, after he was arrested last week as part of an investigation by the OPP in partnership with Lac Seul Police Service.
Last Friday, officers were contacted to assist with a sexual assault investigation related to an incident that occurred on or around Mar. 6 in Kejick Bay.
The Sioux Lookout OPP Regional Crime Unit took over the investigation earlier today, and they have charged Capay of Kejick Bay with one count of sexual assault with a weapon.
Capay was arrested Mar. 9, and he remains in custody pending his next court appearance March 18. The sexual assault investigation is ongoing.
Capay was released earlier this year, after judge stayed a murder charge against him in late January, because the rights of the accused had been violated. Capay had spent more than four years in solitary confinement awaiting trial, prompting a review of the province's use of segregation.
