The City of Kenora is hoping to add a piece to the legal system in its community. A 24-bed facility is meant to help provide housing and programming for those stuck in the judicial system.
Police believe 70 per cent of more than 3,000 charges for breach of an undertaking could have been prevented, if there was proper housing and support services in the city.
The new facility might also help reduce the number of homeless people on the city's streets. Council is set to debate the proposal tomorrow, during a special meeting.
