A weather advisory is in effect for Kenora Grassy Narrows and Sioux Narrows. Forecasters say up to 20 cm of blowing snow is on its way, and it could make driving hazardous overnight.
According to Environment Canada, a strong low pressure system from Colorado will track just south of Lake Superior, spreading snow into Northwestern Ontario Sunday night into Monday. The snow is expected to end Monday night.
According to the forecast, this track places northwestern Ontario near the northern edge of this system. Significant snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are possible Sunday night and Monday.
The advisory says higher snowfall amounts are possible, if the Colorado low tracks a little closer to the region than currently expected. Hazardous winter driving conditions from accumulating snow and low visibility in snow and occasional blowing snow are anticipated.
