$30k in cash & drugs seized along with 3 arrests in Sandy Lake

Two Winnipeg men and one Sandy Lake woman face several charges following a drug bust in Sandy Lake Wednesday.

It occurred just after 7:30 a.m. when officers with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, supported by the Emergency Response Unit and front-line officers at the community detachment, executed a search warrant at a home as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in the community.

Before making entry, one person was taken into custody without incident, with the remaining two accused being arrested inside the home.

There officers discovered and seized approximately $30,000 in Canadian currency, along with an undisclosed amount of suspected cocaine and other items associated with the drug trade.

A 19-year-old Winnipeg man and a 43-year-old Sandy Lake woman face one charge each of:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

While an 18-year-old man, also from Winnipeg faces the charges of:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking

All three appeared in court Thursday and have since been remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
