Kenora Mayor Dave Canfield would like to see better access. He'd like to see cottagers have a safer route to the north end of Dufresne Island.
"It looks now that we could be moving forward on the beginning of a parking lot there, so at least the people can get off the highway and be a little bit safer, as they get to their cottages on the north side," he said last week.
The island is also connected by Beryl Winder Road on the south side of the bypass. Dufresne Island is located between the two bridges -- named in honour of the late Sgt. Tom Cooper and Const. Peter Sebborn -- on the Kenora bypass.
