The province is reducing employer contributions for workplace safety insurance. Kenora-Rainy River member Greg Rickford says companies will see a 30 per cent drop in premiums in the new year.
These savings will allow employers to invest in the equipment and infrastructure they need to create good jobs in Ontario." said Rickford.
Ontario had been charging extra, in order to cover an unfunded liability in the fund. However, that shortfall has now been paid off, resulting in the change.
"Today’s announcement is just one part of our promise to lower taxes, reduce the regulatory burden and protect and create jobs. Our government is working hard to make life better for all Ontarians and send a message that Ontario is open for business." Rickford added.
