Energy Minister Greg Rickford wants to cap the salary for the head of Hydro One. Last year, the CEO made $6.2 million, but the minister wants to limit the salary at $1.5 million. However, the board of directors is opposing the minister's direction.
For ratepayer Ken Wickman of Kenora, it's an easy decision to bring executive salaries under control. He can't believe a person can make more than $6-million a year.
"For one person? Oh God! That's awful," he said yesterday.
Wickman, who is a hydro one customer, notes he pays about $100 a month for hydro on a camp, even though it draws no power in the winter time.
