The federal minister responsible for gun control and organized crime reduction -- Bill Blair -- was in Kenora yesterday, and he talked about the opportunity to consult with residents.
"Whatever we do, I want to make sure we do it in a way which is respectful of their rights, but I think there are some things that we certainly can consider. The government's asked me to conduct an examination of a variety of measures, up to and including a handgun ban," he said.
During his visit, Blair spoke with police, gun owners as well as Indigenous leaders. They talked about gun control, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, the return of children in care to First Nation communities, as well as roadside screening devices for cannabis.
