Treaty 3 Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh is leading by example. He volunteered to take drug testing at Whitefish Bay First Nation yesterday.
"In my situation, I'm the leader of the Grand Council. I believe that it's very important we have somebody that is drug-free," he said.
The grand chief noted there are also First Nations where random drug testing is in place for staff, as well.
"Drugs and alcohol are one of the deterrents to better health in our area. So, that's why I firmly believe we need to do that," he added.
Naotkamegwanning has also been working with Northwest Angle 33 and 37 on a Tri-community drug action plan.
