Kenora motorist Virginia Potter was driving near Upsala mid-July, when she was run off the road by a tractor-trailer unit.
Potter says she has reported the incident to police, but she hasn't heard if any charges were laid in connection with the incident.
In the North West Region, the OPP laid the following charges to transport truck drivers between July 15 and July 21:
- 79 speeding charges,
- 8 speed limiter charges,
- 2 seatbelt offences,
- 1 distracted driving charge,
- 2 following too closely charges,
- 45 charges for improper documentation,
- 6 defective equipment charges.
Police also took 14 commercial motor vehicles out of service during the campaign. Across Ontario, police stopped 4,254 commercial motor vehicles, laid 2,479 charges and took 120 unsafe vehicles off of the roads.
