Impaired driving, underage use and second-hand smoke are the top concerns raised, during an online discussion hosted by the health unit. As a result of the discussion, staff at the health unit have also issued a guide for lowering the risk, if you choose to use legalized marijuana.
Steph Charles is the health promoter with the health unit, and she describes some of the findings from the online panel, “There was very engaged discussion about cannabis legalization and all of the implications – around protection from smoke indoors, the location of production facilities, marketing, and public education.”
Health unit staff got about 600 responses, during the discussion.
Health unit manager Shannon Robinson added, “The health unit will use the information in the report to prepare public education, and work with schools and municipalities to minimize any potential harms from cannabis use.”
Staff at the health unit have issued guidelines for lowering the risks to your health, if you decide to use marijuana.
