City staff in Kenora are looking for mischief makers, who opened some hydrants over the weekend. Residents in the area of Transmitter Road, Minnesota Drive and Beach Road woke up Sunday to see water all over the place. Fortunately, no serious injuries or accidents were reported.
Alarms sounded to summon city staff Sunday to deal with the sudden and rapid loss of water in the system. The impact on the community's ability to fight fires -- as well as the cost of the clean up to ratepayers -- was described as 'very foolish,' by one staffer.
By mid-morning, the pool of water on Beach Road in Keewatin had largely been absorbed by the fallen snow.
