Lake of the Woods Ice Patrol Pilot, Tim Armstrong, says that the ice on the Lake of the Woods will be entirely melted in the next day or two.

“This stretch of weather has made such a difference. The ice is retreating day by day. You can see the difference between the morning and the afternoon. For cottagers, the ice will be out in the next day or two. For most campers, it’s all good news.”

He noted that there is still a good amount of ice on the southern end of the Lake of the Woods, that may take an extra day or two to thaw.

Armstrong added that much of his data is provided by other residents who want to help the Ice Patrol with graphs, maps, notes and more. Armstrong compiles his work and other residents’ work onto the Lake of the Woods Ice Patrol website, which has over 300,000 hits in just four years.
